37. A GEORGIAN KINJAL DAGGER WITH GOLD INLAID MOUNTS AND RIVETS, 19TH CENTURY

Origin: Russian Empire, Georgia, 19th century.

Length in scabbard – 57,8 cm, without – 53,6 cm, blade – 41,5 cm.

Blade: straight double edged tapering blade with one narrow fuller. Inscription “made by Ali”.

Hilt: light bone grip plates, riveted with three iron rivets, with two big and one small rosettes in obverse, decorated with golden geometric ornaments.

Scabbard: wooden scabbard covered with black leather, sewed in reverse. Iron fittings with suspension loop, remains of leather belt. Upper fitting decorated with golden geometric ornaments in obverse.

Condition report: blade in good condition, light pitting from corrosion in some places, insignificant scratches, areas of dark patina. Grip plates with some cracks and splits, scratches, small dents, patina. Gilding worn off ion places, but still in good condition. Leather of the scabbard with amount of wear according to an age, scratches, dents, wear off.
