7. PRUSSIAN INFANTRY OFFICER’S SWORD M1889 WITH SABER’S BLADE, EMPEROR WILHELM II MONOGRAM.

Preußen Infanterie Offiziersdegen (IOD) M1889
A sword of the infantry regiments of the line.
Origin: Germany, Prussia, after 1899.
Blade – slightly curved, with one wide fuller both sides, symmetrical tip. No
Closed hilt of gilt steel (only small remains of gold layer), with single knuckle bow fixed to the pommel, folding shield with Prussian coat of arms – crowned eagle with Wilhelm II monogram on the breast. Bakelite grip (broken in top part) is mounted with a crowned WR II monogram for Wilhelm II. Remains of the original leather thumb-ring.
Scabbard missing.
Dimensions: total length – 92,5 cm, blade’s length – 78 cm, width at the hilt – 28 mm, thickness – 6 mm.
